Japan Data Center Council
The Japan Data Center Council (JDCC) was established in December 2008 by an alliance of diverse parties coming from the IT, Academic and Government sectors. Its ambition is to strengthen the foundation of the IT sector between Japan and overseas.
With a vision of upgrading the data center industry standards in-line with the global standards, the organization's focus is not only on initiating data center standardization but also improving the technical abilities of stakeholders and the promotion of data center research and development.

What is a Data Center?
A data center is a facility where organization’s IT equipments (e.g servers) are kept. It is a secure location where the most critical operations take place which affect the systems and networks of an organization.
It is also the reason why security, safety, secrecy and reliability are the top priorities of every data center operators.
Data centers can be distinct from one to another but generally, they are classified in two (2) major categories:
- 1. Internet-Facing Data Centers
- supports applications which are commonly browser-based.
- 2. Enterprise Data Centers
- supports organizations' IT systems, networks and infrastructures.
Still, there are a lot more ways to classify data centers. It can be according to the following:
- Degree of standardization
- Number of applications supported
- Workload scale
- Multitenancy
- Physical scale
